Bizman jailed over N.6m recharge card fraud


 An Abuja Grade 1 Area court has sentenced a 32-year-old businessman to five months imprisonment over a N696, 486 recharge cards fraud in Kubwa, Abuja. Mustapha Aliyu was convicted for criminal breach of trust and cheating, offences contrary to Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that one Ishola Ronke of Kukwaba, complained at the Kubwa Police Station of how she entrusted her recharge cards of different networks worth N696, 486 to the accused.

He said he sold the goods in a fraudulent manner and converted the said amount to his personal use. Olanipekun further said the sum of N370, 000 was recovered from the accused during police investigation.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five months imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa with a fine option of N15, 000 fine. The court also ordered him to pay a compensation of N326, 486 .
