Armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Ilewo-Orile community in Ogun State at the weekend and murdered three persons.
A source in the community who craved anonymity disclosed this to newsmen, adding that their community has been witnessing similar attacks by rampaging Fulani herdsmen.
Two of the victims of the attack, identified as Amosun Ogunronbi and Owolabi Ogunronbi were said to be brothers while the third victim was simply known as Philip.
The source said, “Philip was killed on Friday night after suspected herdsmen accosted him and snatched his motorcycle, mobile phone and some money.
“Philip is an Egun man. He went to work on Friday but didn’t return. When his wife was going to the market in Ibara-Orile at the weekend, she saw the dead body of her husband by the road side.”
However, the case has been reported at the Lafenwa Police Station, Abeokuta and at the state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, the source explained that the murder of Ogunronbi occurred prior to the Friday incident, saying that the suspects carted away the victims’ motorcycle and cash.
He explained further, “Amosun went to collect some thrift savings in Ishaga-Orile and he asked his brother (Owolabi) to convey him there with his motorcycle.
“When they were coming back, Fulani herdsmen attacked them at about 8:30p.m. They hacked them to death.
“Some commercial motorcyclists who passed by later saw Amosun’s lifeless body by the road side and the raised the alarm.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, is yet to confirm the incident.
