Someone left an angry note on this woman's car - and it backfired massively

What’s worse than a passive aggressive note left on a car?

A misogynistic passive aggressive note left on a car, that’s what.
Rebecca Landis Hayes had recently gone for a spot of shopping in Coddle Creek shopping centre in Concord, North Carolina.

She parked her car in a space for military veterans, and upon returning to her vehicle found the following note attached:

Except, here's her spectacular response...

To the person who left this note on my windshield today at the Coddle Creek Harris Teeter in Concord, NC:

I know I parked in one of the Veteran Parking spaces today, it was hot. I had been in and out of my car several times already this afternoon, and I was only going to be a minute. Besides, the parking lot was full, so I just did it. It was the first time, and I won’t do it again. I’m sorry…

I’m sorry that you can’t see my eight years of service in the United Sates Navy. I’m sorry that your narrow misogynistic world view can’t conceive of the fact that there are female Veterans. I’m sorry that I have to explain myself to people like you. Mostly, I’m sorry that we didn’t get a chance to have this conversation face to face, and that you didn’t have the integrity and intestinal fortitude to identify yourself, qualities the military emphasizes.
Which leads to one question, I served, did you?

As it turns out, Hayes is pretty much the definition of a veteran.
In fact women make up 17 per cent of enlisted navy officers, and yet they continue to be sidelined.
The post has been shared almost 6,000 times as people everywhere send her messages of shock and support.

Hayes hadn't expected the level of support coming her way, and later wrote on her Facebook:

Feeling overwhelmed by the positive responses to my post this afternoon.
Thank you to all my friends, family, and fellow Veterans. I truly appreciate your kind words and support.

I hope my experience will help remind people that there is no ONE Veteran type.
